The national media, while sensationalizing a tragic situation, has inaccurately depicted the actual effects of the oil spill. Media reports have created the misimpression that oil is on, or at least visible, from our shoreline – but that’s not true.
Charter fishing boats, which daily go about 70 miles off shore, have not encountered any oil from the Deep Horizon explosion. Northwest Florida’s Gulf Beaches remain beautiful and pristine, while sensational and embellished media reporting is having a devastating affect on our tourism trade, at a time when the nation’s economy is already suffering.
