    Now batting...No. 1 The Island Princess...The pitch...The batter swings...BOOM...A home run.

It looks like you've smacked this one right on the kisser and out of the park. It's called the sweet spot. You could not have been more to the point and correct with your assessments of the media coverage of the issue (make that non-issue).

The daughter's pregnancy has been blown up by the media so much that some voters may be scratching their heads and starting to believe that Bristol is the VP candidate and not Sarah.

    Hello media...GET TO THE ISSUES.

I'm disappointed with the media for a whole host of reasons - not the least of which was someone's bright idea to use Palin's daughter for target practice. But we need to be realists here - if Palin is going to talk about abstinence only and she is going to take the moral high ground when it comes to conservative politics, then having a daughter who clearly had unprotected premarital sex and didn't heed her mother's abstinence only policy - is news. The kid isn't the story - what mom says is the story. If the tables were turned and it was a Dem, you can take it to the bank that media response would have been equally brutal, but it wouldn't be quieting down in quite such an orderly fashion as it seems to now be.

palin's hypocrisy comes from the fact, in her own words her daughter had made a dicision (choice) to keep the baby, which is ok and as it should be, but then for the mother to stand on a national stage and tell the rest of the american families she is going to strive to take that dicision ( choice) from them is hypocracy in pure form. as far as the media feeding frenzy, the repubs throw an almost unknown politicion, into the national arena, what did they expect or did they do it intentionaly to draw the heat from macain. yes she probably knows what goes on in a family, but does she know what is really happening to the families in the lower 48. she is a self proclaimed far religious right and thinking she will somehow change her views is hopeful at best. with that, saying she is the best representative of the family amongst the candidates is a little far fetched. obama's family both parents, similiar lower middle class backgrouds, paid for their own schooling, chose to give back to their community rather than go for the gold, two children, joe biden loses first wife and daughter to a drunk driver, two sons severly injured and daughter from second wife. not much news there, won't sell advertising. macain, i noticed they didn't recognize his children from his first mariage at the convention, enough said.
why did the media not question why hillary was running for president, she told them when she announced her candidacy, no news there. the ayers connection, blogger fodder, obama attended a function at ayers home attended by a number of chicago politicos. why was he there because ayers is a renowned and distinguished professor of education in chicago. when he was doing his SDS thing let's see obama was 6, 7 years old. why didn't he leave the church after the hateful spouting of an old preacher who lived through segregation and racial bigotry, you really think if every sermon was on hate and raling about america he would have much of a congregation left. why didn't he leave sooner, why didn't the catholics leave when all of the perv priests were outed. one last thing palen is a grad from a college in idaho with a degree in mass communications and worked in the media business for a short time, sports reporter, go figure.

Part of the problem is that the high and mighty right likes to dictate how the rest of us should live otherwise, no one would really give two cents about Bristol Palin's pregnancy. The real point that you didn't touch on is the reason Sarah Palin released the information. It was all over the internet that the 4 month old palin baby was actually the child of Bristol Palin. Since that wasn't true all the good gov. had to do was ignore the rumor. However, she decided the best thing was to throw her very own daughter under the bus in order to squelch the rumors about herself. That's why many women question her maternal instincts. I have children myself and most mothers i know would stop at nothing in order to protect their child. But not the good gov. It's all about her.
